Orville Heyn is one of Canada’s top voice trainers. He has served as a lead vocal instructor and lead in-house session Producer for the International Jazz Workshop at the Banff Center for the Arts. Orville currently teaches on faculty at Humber College’s internationally acclaimed music program. He has been teaching voice and songwriting since 1988 and 1997 respectively and composing since 1979. Orville Heyn has worked extensively as a professional singer, pianist, composer, arranger, actor, teacher and choir director. He was called, “an amazing talent” by Kenny Werner (Grammy nominated jazz pianist and author of Effortless Mastery). Orville is the founder of both The Singer’s Body training method and of Humber College's first songwriting program and is viewed by many professionals in the music industry as one of Canada’s most gifted and innovative vocal teachers. Orville Heyn recently completed work as personal Vocal Coach for Mike Myers and Telma Hopkins on the new Paramount Pictures’ film, The Love Guru. He was also a Music Producer, Arranger and Music Editor on The Love Guru, as well as Songwriter/Producer of the film's featured original song “Lead Me To Your Rock” (June 17th CD release). Orville has also recorded preparatory learning materials for Jessica Alba, Mike Myers and others. As Composer, some of Orville's selected scoring credits include, Le Promenade Des Papillons (2008), Find, starring and Directed by Tara Samuel of (Sue Thomas FBI) - nominated Best Narrative Short - 2006 Austin Film Festival, and the TV pilot Welcome To Harmony, starring Fred Penner. Orville also produced, orchestrated, arranged and recorded the original song “The Broken” (itunes), for Suzie McNeil (finalist on the TV series Rockstar: INXS and opening act for Aerosmith 2007). Recently Orville was hired as lead vocal coach for the YTV Network program, The Next Star (the youth version of American Idol). Orville was also featured as a voice trainer on Slice Network's television program, The List - (season 1, episode 4), still available for viewing on Slice Network's website, http://www.slice.ca/Play. Orville Heyn has also served as an adjudicator and clinician at The Brandon Jazz Festival, adjudicator for University of Toronto's Jazz Department and guest presenter at MusicFest Canada and the Blue Skies Music Festival. |
